If you happen to be so lucky, to be so fortunate as to have someone in your life, someone who loves you, someone who makes you more than alone in the world and is there to help you face each day...be nothing but kind to them. They are the last person in the world to deserve your sarcasm, bad mood and criticism, but are often the first to receive it. What good could ever come from looking at the person who loves you and speaking to them as if they are beneath you and not worth your time? Negativity will never make things better. Never.
If you are with someone who offers you their respect and patience, give them the same. It isn't always easy for them, but they try. If you are with someone who truly loves you, then they are not out to get you. They aren't trying to attack or insult you, so remember that before your natural defenses come up and you shut them out. If they come up anyway (instinct is instinct), it isn't too late. Talk to them. Help them understand where it went wrong for you. Don't punish the unaware.
If you are with someone who is genuine, someone who comes back to you even when you miss them but you're being too proud and stubborn to go to them first...never take that for granted. Never take advantage of it. Never forget that it is a privilege.
Whatever happens, always make it ok.
Does this sound like too much work? Does it sound like the other person is needy? Well, there isn't much I can say to that. Just try it out.

This is not preaching, this is not aimed at anyone in particular. I have been on both sides of this treatment and I am only offering my perspective based on personal experience. It's a shame how everything nowadays requires a disclaimer...there's always one...
